Horst H. Richter

Horst H. Richter, 85, of Upper Deerfield Township died peacefully after a brief illness late Monday evening July 19, 2010 at his home while surrounded by his loved ones.

The husband of Kathe I. (nee Hovermann) Richter, they were married on June 6, 1946 in Germany. Mr. Richter was born in Germany and moved to the United States in 1952. After living in Seabrook and working at Seabrook farms, he moved to his current address in 1962. He later worked as a supervisor at Seabrook Brothers and Sons for several years until retiring in 1992.

He was a longtime member of the German Congregation at the Northville Lutheran Church.

Mr. Richter enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and for several years belonged to a number of local bowling leagues. He was also an avid Phillies fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three grandchildren, Stephen Diamond and his fiancé Aubrey Winslow of Burlington, IN, Kirsten E. Johnson of Deerfield and Donald M. Johnson III (Margo) of Deerfield, one great grandson, Justin Donald Johnson, son-in-law, Donald M. Johnson Jr. (Ingrid) of Deerfield, one brother-in-law, Friedo Hovermann (Hermi) of Germany, one sister-in-law, Irma Hovermann of Bridgeton, one niece, Petra Oberwandling and two nephews, Dieter and Fred Hovermann. He was predeceased by both his daughters, Angelika Richter Diamond in 1983 and Karen Richter Johnson in 2008 and a brother-in-law, Heinz F. Hovermann in 2002.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Northville Lutheran Church, Old Burlington Road in Upper Deerfield Township on Friday afternoon July 23rd at 2 o'clock.

Pastor Thomas Vaga will officiate.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Friends will be received at the church Friday afternoon from 12:30 until 2.
