Lucille E. Merritt (nee Bernier), 74, of Hopewell Township died early Friday morning January 22, 2010 at The Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township where she had been a resident for the last year and a half.

Born in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Desire and Marie Ange (nee Lacroix) Bernier. A Bridgeton area resident for many years, she formerly lived at Oakview Heights in Bridgeton and also for over two years with her daughter, Mary J. Dixon, in Millville.

She was a homemaker for the majority of her life, but worked for several years at the former Seibel & Stern Clothing Company in Bridgeton.

Mrs. Merritt was a longtime member of the Bridgeton Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She enjoyed arts and crafts and listening to gospel music.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary J. Dixon (Wayne) of Millville and Cathleen R. Meehan (Timothy) of Hopewell Twp., one son, Frank L. Merritt Jr. of Bridgeton, six grandchildren, Candice Lansdowne (Aaron), Christine Vasquez (Miguel), Jennifer Merritt, Frank J. Merritt III, Melissa Meehan and Timothy Meehan, three great grandchildren and one sister, Jeannine Boyd of Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a brother, William Bernier.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Merritt's memorial service at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce Street in Bridgeton on Tuesday afternoon January 26th at 4:30.

Pastor Scott Carr will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to fulfill Mrs. Merritt's desire to help needy children to World Vision, PO Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063 (www.worldvision.org), the Alzheimer's Association, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053 or to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, PO Box 214, Elizabeth, NJ 07207.
